but if I use Acrobat this is the message.

 

"The selected font cannot be embedded in the PDF file because of licensing

restrictions. If the PDF file is viewed on a system that does not have this font

installed, Acrobat will simulate the appearance of the font. To preview the

simulated font appearance, turn off Advanced > Use Local Fonts.

 

To avoid this situation, use a font that can be embedded in the file or a font

known to be installed on all systems where the PDF file will be viewed.

 

[VBM] may help us!

 

Looks ok in Windows font viewer (Except there is no A or E)

It worked in MS Word (again excepth the A & E). But I get skulls in GIMP.

they are quite simply fakes. A whole bunch of them hit the font scene around the same time, all bearing those little skulls and also little bombs.

 

When will people realise that LHF fonts made after a certain date just are NOT going to be shared. No matter how often people ask for them.

Many of those screwed Letterhead Fonts have letters which have been destroyed. The letters Aa has been made into an Ii for instance, the Ee into Yy. Other fonts have wrong letter spacing so tops are cut off. While the latter is an easy fix, you may have to create letters for the other problems.

 

Most were "fixed" (dated) in last half of 2007. Those fonts aren't worth the effort!!! Chuck Davis has dug his own hole in which to live...

Bonifacio - hello.

 

Attached(DL) is a picture of one of those fonts -- LHF Gilmore REGULAR in which you can see a couple of issues:

 

o Missing Letters would have to be redrawn:

1. The letter A is now an I - both upper and lower case glyphs.

2. The letter E is now a Y - both upper and lower case glyphs.

 

o Don't step on the warning:

3. In the Thorn position, last character in the font is the skull drawing with the caption "exploit-mhtRedir.gen is fun!"

o Letters would have to be resized:

4. The letters in the font have been resized, unevenly. You would have to fix them.

5. To make the font coherent some of the lesser used letters should be redrawn: *+/@[\]^` or dropped.

 

All in all it's not worth any effort. Chuck Davis doesn't want you to have this font so I agree with him. In fact, I suggest you never use a Chuck Davis font because he thinks you and your friends are thieves.

 

I believe there are half-a-million other fonts in the world worthy of collecting and using over any Chuck Davis "creation".

 

Nice fonts, terrible business practices.

A few people have requested LHF Unlovable... which I just found out today used to be called Becker Monogram English which was shaed here: http://pilo.me/showthread.php?t=162&highlight=LHF+Becker+Monogram+English and has just since been renamed Unlovable. Just another way for the LHF guy to try to "protect" his font.

 

So if anyone is still looking for Unlovable, it can be found in the thread I linked under the old name "Becker Monogram English"

It seems that Unlovable is an update version of Monogram English, just check this font-guard protected Monogram English (ID removed) which should be original with subtle difference.

Well, I haven't tested em, but I know there are two version of Unlovable available on the site. So it could be the other version...

 

I was told that that is what the font used to be called, it's also possible it was updated. I quickly looked at the glyphs but didn't use it on a design or anything yet.

 

Either way, it seems Unlovable wont or isn't going to pop up, so that would be a very close alternate, if it isn't the exact same.

OK. Pilo, since it's you... I will volunteer for LHF Saratoga Ornaments 1 & 2. The problem is there is a large difference in size between the smallest and largest ornaments therefore when put into the same font the small things disappear. I didn't let that stop me...

 

I kept the same numbering scheme as shown on the pdf which can be used to select the ornament.

I'd love to be able to attempt it....

 

Love learning new things....

.....as I just figured out how to bring vectors into photoshop and create custom shapes from them (thrilling for me at least) LOL

There are few steps involved.

 

1. Find proper source -- bad source = bad results. Clean source = you stand a chance. The whole world is color and fonts are black and white ... they don't make it easy on you

2. Cut up source into bite sized chunks -- individual ornaments or letters. Snagit works for me.

3. Import letters into Font Creator (my font maker) There are several settings to try for best results: Darker/Lighter, Less/More detailed.

4. Adjust letters for alignment (pPqQ) and size.

5. Correct curves - move a line here, a point there. This could take forever to clean up bad scans.

6. Clean up and publish.

but unfortunately, if I remember correctly it is just a flattended raster image of the characters, embedded into the pdf and not the characters or their outlines themselves, so it could be livetraced and cleaned up, I'm not really as good in illustrator as in other programs, so I'm not sure if I attempted it, if it would be worth it. But if I get some downtime, I might try...
