Post your requests for FontSpring rips here.

http://www.fontspring.com shows a webfont demo for each font in their catalogue, but since they don't host the webfonts, it's only a demo with a limited glyph set.

For some people this limited character set can still be useful, so if you want a rip, post your request here.

This is the glyph set you will get:

Please don't post these rips in the 'Typography Shares' section, unless the glyph sets are (as good as) complete compared to the original (in which case I'll probably post them myself).

I know that the Tang family (Suomi Type Foundry) already shared for 2 styles, but the whole family still out of reach.

 

I got already the WOFF files from the fontspring demo pages (put the link here: http://www.embedupload.com/?d=8JSEK4CZMF, hope to make the rip process easier), and I'm interested in what to do next?

It would be most grateful if you can give some instructions about how to convert the web format (.eot or .woff) to the desktop format, if it won't make you too much trouble (btw, I use a PC system).

I work with command line tools on my mac, it would be too hard to explain, but there are online font converters that you could use to convert the .woff to .ttf. With this one, it was easy because the converted ttf fonts can be used as desktop fonts. Normally they use font obfuscation (messing up the internal font names so they don't work as desktop fonts and make FontLab crash when you try to open them). In that case you can use FontForge to open them and correct the naming and then generate a new font. Using TTX (command line) is a cleaner operation, I have the impression that FontForge loses some kerning pairs when rebuilding the font.

Hi hottyping, nice first try. A few remarks though: you lost all the kerning in the fonts (the ttf's I converted from your woff files still have original kerning, see 2 posts above). I suppose you added some extra glyphs yourself: you could check out the original weights of Tang that were shared to see how the accented characters should look like. Your circumflex accent is way too big, TM is also too big, OE en oe should be connected... But let's not turn this thread into a technical discussion, you can always PM me if you like.

I can't find it at FontSpring but here : http://typekit.com/fonts/coolvetica . I have no idea how you extract the font from the sites… Maybe this one works ?

It would be great if you can extract something from Coolvetica (above all Ultra Light weight).
